Brick Street Art Studio Fall Course 2019 Offering
In addition to the courses listed below individualized mentoring sessions can be scheduled on a case by case basis.
Mixed-Media with Printmaking and the Embrace of the Happy Accident -- Dates to be determined based on client's schedule.
Introductory to Advanced-level art students are welcome to join this six week studio course. This series of six two-to-three hour studio sessions will focus on the fundamentals of printmaking and the etiquette and habits involved with working in a community-based print shop and on a Sturges printing press. Projects will educate students on a variety of planographic, relief and intaglio print processes and stress the principles of transformation, originality and working in series and multiples. How to edition prints will be covered but also how to enjoy the variables and surprises inherent in this indirect mark making process. Students are required to keep sketchbook/art journals and exercises will be assigned to help promote student learning and follow through. For added inspiration and to further discussion and reflection slide presentations as well as daytime, gallery trips to the Carnegie Center for Art & History (http://www.carnegiecenter.org) and/or the Southern Indiana Art Council (http://artscouncilsi.org) will be integrated into and/or supplement some of the studio sessions. One of the primary objectives of this course is to help students discover their personal art form and content. This course works well for students interested in developing a visually coherent portfolio for professional display and/or the College Board Studio Art 2-D Design and/or Drawing Portfolio.
This course meets from 6pm to 8pm with extended studio time until 9pm.

Fee: 200.00 for 6 sessions. Access to open studio sessions on Thursday included. Limited to 6 students.
